[20th century] - 2019
Personal papers of Holocaust survivors Rudolf Leavor BEM (1926-2021, born Librowicz, known as Rudi) and Marianne (1933-2015, née Breitbarth, anglicised to Bright), who came to England as child refugees in 1937 and 1939 respectively. They married in 1955 and were both members of HSFA, with Rudi also serving as its Education Co-ordinator. The records contain a mixture of original, digitised and born-digital records, comprising recordings, papers, photographs and objects. They relate to Rudi and Marianne’s German-Jewish families and their own children. There is some duplication between the digitised records (created around 2007) and the physical records which were donated later [post-2017]. See also Max Kingsley’s papers (HCN/1/MKK) which contains ‘Between two worlds’ (Random Acts Music Theatre, 2002), a booklet co-created with Rudi Leavor and other HSFA members. The records are arranged in five sub-series as follows: HCN/1/RML/1: Recordings HCN/1/RML/2: Rudi’s papers and photos (digital) HCN/1/RML/3: Rudi’s papers (physical) HCN/1/RML/4: Marianne’s papers, photos, spice box HCN/1/RML/5: Esther Béjarano film (Bejarano)
